Ive been doing my usual routine of chatting with people and a growing suspicion hit me today.  People are actually reading what I'm writing! 

I'm more used to thinking of this as an info dump for my random thoughts on questing..oh and pvp..and raids..and well whatever shinny thing I latch onto that a few friends read.  It gives me a way to look things up and help them out too while practicing my writing.

This left me thinking so its time for a bit of ..

Gaming Distractions

Everyone had different things they like to do in addition to their main task at hand.  Smoking, eating, watching TV, music, talking on the phone...the list goes on and on. So take a moment and reflect on what you do while playing Warcraft.  Leave a comment if you like.

Here are a few of mine....

Netflix - Their play on demand service lets me watch all kinds of nature and history shows and old movies I know well enough o not need every bit of my visual attention.  While WoW hardly needs me to listen to it anymore.  So this also Qualifies as TV I guess because they have older shows from when I thought TV was still good (Pre reality TV).

Podcasts, Blogs, and Lions oh My!

I've been sucked into getting my feet wet in twitter recently.  Squelchy was over on Twisted Nether and made it actually sounds interesting and cool.

So I started going through the blogs I've been following and the podcasts, they were mixed in with all the other links I'd saved for Warcraft, so I could try and see who is on twitter.  I managed to find ones Id forgotten!

Six steps

They have a theory that everyone in the world is six steps removed from each other.  That were so interconnected that we're only six steps removed.  Its a really cool theory.

Something only randomly linked to that is something wandering around the blogosphere where you take your 6th screen shot and post it and ask 6 others to do so.  Well I dont know I know 6 other bloggers who havent already do it so Ill just do my own little thing :)

In my many reinstals and hard drive crashes Ive tried to save all the screen shots I can.  They remind me of good and bad times and many crazy things.  So here is one from my current folder, my old folder, and my character folder.

The site MMO Champion is great filled with all kinds of content.  i wanted to highlight some work they did in data mining - they gathered the armory data on level 85 characters and list the most popular item transmogs, pets, mounts.

Saz, over at the World of Saz, had an interesting challenge.  15 days worth of screen shots to test your visual skills.  Now I'm a bit late on doing this but it sounded like a heck of a lot of fun.  Here is the original post with the rules and the like.

A Webcomic of wit and wisdom

For those of you that haven't stumbled across 'Nerf Now!' its a wacky little comic that runs around with many games.  Mario, Team Fortress 2, Diablo, Warcraft, they all make an appearance in these pages.

The english is a bit lose since it isn't the artist's native language.  But the errors are small and the content well worth it.

How good it it?  Were here are two Warcraft ones he did.

I kinda agree with one poster that it makes it sound a bit sexist but I figure its unintended and Ill take it as the way it was intended, pure greatness.

I thought it would be easy to write about hunters, since their a class Im passionate about.  but with the level of game change at 10 with the pet its proven a bit more work for even a simple writeup.

General Macros

Ok lets start with some fun stuff first.  Not many people know you can trigger in game sounds with a macro.

When your making a macro for a combat class I find it useful to add in a line that starts your combat if your target dies it targets the nearest.
/startattack

This one plays the lament of the highborn.

The Argent Tournament has a kiss the frog quest this makes it easy just hit by a frog at your feet.

Zoom your character out and get a commanding view fo the battle.

When your making sure everyone is ready, only works if your the party leader or have permission in the raid.
/readycheck

This macro clicks on every item with a grey color in y our inventory.  Dangerous when your puttering about, a godsend if your trying to sell all the junk you end up with to a vendor.
