5.2 Hunter Gear (non raid)

I put together a list of gear for a friend of mine.  She avoids raids for the most part but we plan to do just enough to get a bit of rep for the assault in time.  I thought it might be useful for others so here is a lose guide for gearing up in 5.2.  Of course this also works for Shamans if your one of the sexy enhancement types.

Of PvP and leveling

PvP gear is something both well established characters and people new to a realm can take advantage of.

But first heres the basics of how PvP works.

Your level defines what bracket you are in and what map(s) is available for you to fight on.  It starts at 10-14 and continues in 5's (15-19, 20-24, etc).  Fighting and killing someone gives you a few points and winning the match more.  If your contributing to a fight (like healing someone) you share kill credit and you both get the points with someone else.

The Warsong (horde) and the Silverwing (Alliance) are your starting factions.  Both have handy items you may want to snag when you can.

Of Mice and Stats 2

General
DPS Melee Yellow Hit Cap: 5%. The min needed for special moves (shown in yellow combat text) to not miss.
DPS Melee 2-H or 1-H Hit Cap at level 85: 8% requires 961 Hit rating / 841 for Draenei,
DPS Melee 2-Weapon Hit Cap: Each Spec that can DW has a talent that alters the amount needed.
DPS Melee Expertise Cap: 5% preventing dodges when behind the target.
Tank Expertise Cap: at level 85 is 26 Expertise – requires 781 Expertise rating. That would push dodge/parry completely off the table.

Spell Hit Cap: 17% will make you able to hit a level 88 boss with 0% misses.
Ranged Hit (Hunters): 961 hit rating (or 841 if you are Draenei)

Tanks: Your goal is to reach 102.4% avoidance (from dodge, block, parry) to push normal hits entirely off the roll when you are hit. This is not possible with current gear.

Of Mice and Stats 1

Ive tried to gather the best info I can find on stats and whats cool. Ill add specific notes as I go along. if you want to know more for your spec/class let me know and Ill do it sooner.
Some things can be hard to figure out.  Like where Stormwind went to.

Warrior/Paladin tanking gear

This will list off a general best in slot to gather as you get closer to the end of leveling up.  Their listed off at lowest value/easiest to get to highest.

Once you have your gear assembled reforge it to optimize it.

I wont add in the new heroic heroics yet.  Basically anything you find in there thats tanking gear will likely be the best.
