When Blizzard announced they would offer you beta access I was excited. I was willing to put my money where my mouth was and try their expansion and hopefully make it better instead of just complaining about bad stuff.
When blizzard kept the offer open I figured they hadn't met their goal in players. Only to find out there were thousands subscribed and it was just going up..and up.
I was worried and it turned out my worries were right. Bliz was cagey in their answers about what their plans were going to be and kept the Annual Pass open till Beta released and this is what we got.
"We’re very close to beginning beta testing for World of Warcraft®: Mists of Pandaria™! Over the course of the beta test, we’ll be inviting Annual Pass holders, press, fansites, friends and family, and opt-in beta testers to participate."
No NDA, its an open Beta. I could of just opted in and gotten in as fast as the pass. Or if I was a 'press' gamer. Really?
Right now I am so irritated I could punch a kitten.

The opt-ins aren't guaranteed, though. Such as me, for instance--I've opted in but haven't gotten in. :(
ReplyDeleteI completely understand your frustration as the means by which Blizzard went about this was ridiculous and obnoxious and boils down, in part, to false advertising. Or a really bad case of fine print.
ReplyDeleteHaving said that, I think the year subscribers will get invited before fansites and opt-ins simply on an order of priority.
