Women in WoW - is there a right way to do it?

Navimie over at the Daily Frostwolf wrote on this topic (if you haven't read it check the post out here) and its a really good article.

But I had some disagreements of my own I wanted to comment about.  Usually I would leave a comment on the blog but these aren't really clear cut.  Not just objections but objections*.  So like Genie I need to ramble a bit and get it clarified so here we go..

Aladdin: You're gonna grant me any 3 wishes I want, right?
Genie: [imitating William F. Buckley] Uh, ah, almost. There are a few, uh, provisos. Ah, a couple of quid pro quo.

Wandering Universes - SWtoR Sexism

I tried out SWtOR (Starwars the Old Republic) with their free weekend deal.  It is probably one of the best multiplayer single player games out there.  I'm probably going to pick it up, play a couple of months to get an Imperial and Republic up and see their story and then quit.  Probably not the best design for an MMO.

But there is one thing that is a huge flaw in the game that would poison my enjoyment enough I'm not sure Id stay if I wanted to.  The Dancer's Outfits.  this sends all kinds of wrong messages to the gamer playing the game and I think its useful to talk about them so hopefully the mistake isn't repeated.

I know some of you will be unhappy this isn't about WoW but its any consolation I do plan to mention Warcraft.

The Myth of the Female Gamer

Male gamers like to think that females in the games are a myth.  But that's more because of the guys deliberately making it difficult for them to just enjoy the game.

Dueling Analogs had perhaps the best strip explaining it along with his comment.  A follow up is here and here.

“When your father stood up, told me I sucked and then exposed himself on Xbox Live I knew I was going to marry him someday.”
