Wisdom and Guilds

I came across a quote recently that really struck home when I think of Guilds in Warcraft.

"Associate with men of good quality if you esteem your own reputation; for it is better to be alone than in bad company." - George Washington 1st President of the USofA

Does this still apply in Warcraft? Guilds used to mean something very special.  When I see some guilds on my old servers I still have positive feelings from things that happened back when it mattered in BC.  Including when they policed their members and refused to let them be bastards to the rest of the realm.

What does your guild mean to you?  Just a collection of guild perks?  People you chat with a bit but don't do anything with?  Friends you would loan thousands of gold and grind Legendaries for?

I know what they were and I feel that they are becoming as casual as a group of friends on twitter or Facebook and for me...I don't like it.  At all.  But unless Blizzard does something to make Guilds mean something in Warlords of Draenor well..its here to stay.

  1. I know exactly what you mean. My guild in BC was close knit, I mean hell I still talk several of them to this day even though they play other games, we're friends on Facebook, and still talk about the good times back in karazhan and Tempest Keep. But no, guilds just don't mean anything, people don't seem to chat as much... the don't group as much, and the connection of joining together for the good of the guild, and putting your best face forward means nothing to the majority now...
